The operating system for the iPhone is finally here: iOS 9
The operating systems for iOS 9 and iOS 10 are both out now, and both look great.
iOS 9 is now officially called iOS 10, and it’s just got a brand new icon.
Apple’s announcement is pretty clear that the new OS will be a major upgrade over iOS 9, but it also promises the ability to run apps and games from the App Store.
iOS 10 will be available for free for “a limited time” on the iPhone, Apple said in a statement.
“We’re excited to introduce the newest version of the world’s most popular smartphone operating system with a redesigned design, a new user interface, and even new apps for new iPhone models,” Apple wrote in the statement.
It’s worth noting that the name of the operating system will change to iOS 10.
“OS X Yosemite,” the company wrote.
“iOS 10 will bring new features and capabilities to Apple’s Mac OS, bringing an even better user experience with more robust security, greater compatibility, and improved productivity,” the statement continued.
“And we’ll be updating Mac OS to iOS 11.”
It sounds like iOS 10’s new icon is based on a design that Apple already shared with us.
We don’t know exactly what the new icon will look like, but we’ve seen other designs before.

The new OS has been out for a while, but only officially for a limited time.
As for how you can upgrade, iOS 10 users can get the upgrade by downloading iOS 10 from the Apple App Store, though you’ll have to wait a few days before you can do so. iOS 11 is also currently rolling out, and Apple is already working on an update for the OS.
If you’re not happy with the operating systems update, you can try switching to iOS 9 or iOS 10 for a few more days, then update to iOS 12.
